Constantly Striving to be Better Experts on Canada & Alaska

Here's how we do it:

  • We live it - first and foremost we are local experts - we live what we sell. We are all keen travelers and in our various ways we cover a broad spectrum of passions - from those who like to relax on a train, or visit a spa, to avid kayakers, hikers, horseback riders, cyclists, skiers, golfers, fishers etc. Chances are, if you have a desire to do a trip - one of us has done it.
  • Familiarization trips - it’s tough work but someone has to do it - all our customer service people are required to get out and do at least one of our trips each year. When you return the rule is your brief everyone thoroughly on what you learned.
  • Customer feedback - every client who goes on a trip is asked to give us their feedback, and in this way we learn and hone our journeys over the years (since 1992).
  • Hiring - it starts here. We admit we have a ‘type’. We hire personable former tour guides and those who have traveled extensively in Canada & Alaska - and we test them thoroughly. (Think your geography is good? Try a small sample of our test - 80%+ gets you a second interview!)
  • Training - everyone goes through an extensive training period when they start - then we have ongoing training most months internally or from visiting suppliers.
  • Open communication - we nearly all work in one big room - so information and tips are flying back and forth all day
  • Technology - all our learning since 1992 - our familiarization trip reports, our daily tips and lessons, the brickbats and bouquets of customers, and notes from suppliers, is kept in a central database that is a treasure-trove of information about Canada & Alaska

And we never stop learning - because we are only as good as our last restaurant recommendation
