The Rocky Mountaineer became the epitome of comfort shortly after its maiden voyage in 1990. The Rocky Mountaineer's RedLeaf Service is the train line's basic package; however there is absolutely nothing basic about its presentation. Each guest will be treated to:
- An assigned, reclining seat in a classic rail car.
- Extended leg room to ensure that there is never a moment of discomfort on the 2-day journey.
- Large picture windows that allow each guest to fully enjoy the scenery as the train passes mountains, rivers, volcanic plateaus and spiral tunnels.
- The Chance to take fantastic pictures that will preserve memories of the trip for a lifetime.
A trained, knowledgeable onboard attendant is on hand to point out major landmarks to the passengers. This attendant is also there to serve you and ensure that you are comfortable and content for the duration of your Canada train vacation. When it's time to eat, the Mountaineer's staff will promptly serve a fantastic, chilled breakfast and lunch. Complimentary snacks and beverages are also available upon request.

- Passengers travel onboard custom-made, bi-level trains as they travel towards the Alberta destinations of Banff, Jasper or Calgary.
- All are invited to take the spiral staircase or elevator to the train's upper deck and take a look out of the specially designed dome windows.
- These windows allow a panoramic view of fantastic sights like Pyramid Falls, Fraser Canyon and Mount Robson.
Meals are served on the lower level in the Mountaineer's 36-seat dining room. The train's chefs serve a wide variety of gourmet breakfasts and lunches that are sure to please anyone's tastes. Dinner will also be provided when you arrive at your overnight accommodations.
