Canadian rail tours are one of the easiest ways to see the country, but you don't need to restrict your journey entirely to land - there are also quite a few places in Canada where you can hop a flight to your next destination.

Rather than solely operate out of traditional airports, however, many Vancouver cities offer float plane terminals, which are also known as seaplanes. These aircraft can take off right from a harbor and be at a nearby destination in a matter of minutes.

In Vancouver, the brand-new Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre is set to open in just a few weeks on May 25th. It's already attracted two major seaplane companies in Seair and Tofino Air. The two companies will initially be offering service to locales in British Columbia like Nanaimo, Tofino, Sechelt and Gabriola Island.

Yet Seair and Tofino Air are not the only operators in the game. On the heels of the new terminal operating at the harbor, Whistler Air announced that it will soon begin a new route between Pitt Meadows, Victoria and Vancouver.

It certainly looks like these companies will be competing heavily for vacationers who want to get around B.C. quickly, which is a situation that tourists should be sure to take advantage of.
