Any history buffs on Canadian rail tours will enjoy an adventure to one of the country's finest muesums, the Glenbow in Calgary. Providing guests with intriguing historic tales of Western Canada, the institution combines a museum, art gallery, library and extensive archives all in one facility. The museum has been entertaining guests since 1966 as a cultural megaplex that offers individuals an in-depth look at eye-opening video exhibits, photography displays and other unique visual arts.

Until April, guests traveling through Calgary can stop into the museum and witness the works of Laurie Anderson in The Gray Rabbit exhibit. The artist has assumed roles such as composer, poet, photographer, filmmaker and vocalist within her 40-year career.

Her autobiographical video examines a particular story from her childhood in the exact opposite form of a rote re-telling of the tale. With an emphasis on dreamlike images and sensory experiences, Anderson's exhibit may be an ethereal adventure for any potential viewers.

Photographer Edward Burtynsky's work comprising 30 photos will also be up at Glenbow until April. Each one was hand-picked by a Canadian to compile his exhibit named Encounters. The display showcases various landscapes and moments across the country, along with written commentary from each guest curator. Travelers on the Trans Canadian railway can stop by this spring to witness the artistic masterpieces of Anderson, Burtynsky and more.
