Explore the Château in Quebec City on Canadian railroad trips

Travelers visiting Quebec City on Canadian rail tours won't want to miss the sight of the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac as they walk around old town.

Its soaring brick façade and green-tiled roofs are iconic sights that occupy the front pages of the city's travel guides and souvenir postcards.

Inside, however, there is much more to see. Guided tours of Le Château Frontenac are open to the public and give travelers on Canadian train vacations an in-depth look into the history of this famous hotel.

Led by a guide dressed in 19th century garb, visitors embark on a 50-minute journey through the building's luxurious interior. Along the way, travelers will learn all about how the Château was built in 1893 to encourage tourism along the Canadian railroad - meaning that some of the hotel's first guests were travelers on Canadian train trips.

Tours run every day during the summer (May 1st to October 15th), but only on weekends in the colder months.

Families stopping Quebec City on train trips across Canada can take a special children's tour of the Château, in addition to the regular adventure.
