The poll, which was carried out online by Leger Marketing, was available in all regions of Canada between September 20th and October 3rd. 2,345 Canadians participated.
Jack Jedwab, executive director of the Association of Canadian Studies, feels that the poll does not reflect political feelings, however. "They’re thinking of it more esthetically. A lot of people like Ottawa esthetically," he said, according to The Ottawa Citizen. The historic museums of the city have been a favorite destination of Canadian train vacations.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson was very happy about the news. “Everyone should feel that Ottawa is their second hometown, " he stated. Victoria, in British Columbia, came in a close second to Ottawa on the poll, trailing Ottawa's 82 percent rating with an 81.
