In June and July, travelers on Canadian train trips can venture to Saskatchewan for a wonderful treat. The Windscape Kite Festival attracts people of all types ranging from admirers to kite fliers alike. The skies are filled with an array of miniature aircraft, some of which may include giant mythical creatures, train kites and fierce battling fighters .

The event takes place around the Long Day’s Night Music Festival, where patrons can relax and enjoy a variety of music after their day of kite flying and family fun. Some of the the artists performing are The Sadies, a country and rock influenced band, and the ska band Skavenjah.

Over 40 national and international kite flying professionals take part in this high flying event, adding their prowess and creative hand-made creations to the colorful spectacle. Many of these known fliers have participated in some of the most renown events in this field from places like German, Africa and Belgium, and travelers on Canadian rail tours can see them perform some impressive aerial stunts.

For the monetary conscious, admission to The Windscape Kite Festival is free, and tickets to see the music performers vary from $15-30 CAD. The musical festival also offers free rides home to weary travelers and patrons.
