When taking train trips across Canada, travelers should think about all of the fun things that they can do when they arrive at their destination. Those headed to Calgary this summer may want to consider visiting the city's Folk Music Festival, an annual event featuring more than 60 performers this July.

Located at Prince's Island Park in Calgary, the musical affair will cover a variety of genres, from dub and country to blues and Celtic tunes. Artists from all over the world come to entertain the masses, and this year boasts an extensive lineup that includes City and Colour, David Wax Museum, Elisapie Isaac, k.d. lang and the Sis Boom Bang, the Punch Brothers and many more.

Eco-conscious travelers will be happy to know that the four-day festival is doing its part to lessen its impact on the environment, as wind turbines will be used to power the entire show.

The event is perfect for those who are on Canadian rail vacations with their families, as all concerts are kid-friendly and there are even designated areas for seniors and children if they are seeking age-appropriate entertainment.

The festival will take place July 21 to 24.
