Trans Canadian railway passengers can watch Fire and Ice Show in Whistler
Every Sunday this winter, travelers on Canadian train trips going through Whistler are treated to the Fire and Ice Show, presented by the TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival. The spectacle has been around for 13 years and features athletes from Whistler Blackcomb Snow School jumping through gigantic fire rings, among dozens of other gravity-defying feats.
Featuring miles of cross-country skiing tracks, ziplining, gondolas, and of course, steep mountains for snowboarders and skiers, Whistler is a perfect haven for thrill-seekers and winter lovers. Ever since it first opened for skiing in 1966, this beautiful town has been a top destination.
Starting at 6:30 pm, fans gaze up toward the 12-foot-wide hoops as snowboarders and skiers flip and twist between licking flames. The show also has live drumming and fire dancers to complement the amazing stunts. For the finale, fireworks conclude this red-hot show open to anyone on train trips across Canada.
This free event is in the Skiers Plaza at the Whistler Village base and fans can attend the Afterburn Party at the Garibaldi Lift Co. with live music by Whistler's Hairfarmers.
