Whistler's Spectator Sport is Skiing or Riding

Want to travel to Canada?
Let us help you plan the trip of a lifetime and discover the breathtaking beauty on Canadian railway tours.
Visitors to the mountain resort area during the snowy months on Canadian train vacations can see these athletes compete in many events held throughout the season. In some cases, travelers can enter the competition themselves.
The Kokanee Valley Race Series occurs regularly and allows any entrant to take part, including skiers with no experience.
Visitors who have no interest in participating, however, can enjoy the races from the sidelines. Whether they choose to stand and cheer the athletes on along the snowy trail or from a base lodge lounge area, this winter spectator sport is a fun experience for any traveler on a Canadian train trip.
Annual events include the ski and snowboard cross championships, which require athletes to complete a mountain obstacle course of sorts involving jumps, banks and high speeds.
Most famous of all is Whistler's TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival, which takes place in April. Competitions, concerts and general frivolity take over the mountain in this fantastic winter event.
