Rockies Fall Colors by Train 4 days / 3 nights

Trip Overview

Imagine a long weekend getaway from everyday life this Fall - just 4 days - returning home with your head clear and your dreams haunted by the vision of a spectacular train journey through the Canadian Rockies.

These mountains -- immense and jagged - are always magnificent, but there is nothing quite like seeing them with their stands of aspen fluttering gold in the warm Fall breeze under a perfectly blue sky.

Then there are the particular sounds of Fall: Elk calling to one another across a meadow, or a flock of migrating Canada geese whop-whopping overhead...

(Eastbound shown - Westbound is the same, in reverse)

Day 1 – Your Rocky Mountain Train Vacation Begins - Arrive in Vancouver Vancouver’s laid back atmosphere is the perfect welcome to Canada. Explore the city, stopping at a sidewalk café to watch the world go by, or take advantage of local beaches, parks, and mountains to appreciate Vancouver’s spectacular natural setting. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 2 – On the Rocky Mountaineer – from Vancouver to Kamloops A lonesome wail sounds from the train’s whistle as your friendly on board attendant welcomes you to the spectacular Rocky Mountaineer. Over coffee you chat with old friends and new but mostly you find yourself staring out of the window at the ever-changing scenery. When you feel like stretching your legs, step onto the outdoor viewing platform for unobstructed views and cool breezes. Early in the evening - after a day of good food, great company, and awe-inspiring scenery - your Rocky Mountain train arrives in the mountain town of Kamloops, for your overnight stay.

Day 3 – On the Rocky Mountaineer – into the Rocky Mountains This morning return to your train for the final leg of your journey into the Canadian Rockies. The onboard guide teaches you about the important history of the Canadian railroad and the colorful characters who built it, while you keep your eyes peeled for bears, elk and other mountain residents roaming the sides of the tracks. Later, you come to the Spiral Tunnels - climbing round and round slowly through the darkness, until you emerge - blinking in the light - with the high, snowy peaks all around you. Your train finally arrives in the bustling mountain town of Banff, breathe in the invigorating mountain air and settle into your hotel.

Day 4 – In the Canadian Rockies – Explore Banff Take in the sights, scents and sounds of this charming mountain town on your own. A city passport is included today which provides discounts to top visitor attractions, museums, sightseeing, theaters, spas, restaurants & more! It also contains a helpful local guidebook with a city overview; a perfect travel companion.

With this image still fresh in your mind, you travel through the foothills of the Canadian Rockies and into Calgary. Much too soon your Fall Canadian Rockies train vacation comes to an end. Yet you leave with wonderful memories to revisit and cherish for a lifetime.
