Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Begin your Canadian Rockies Train Vacation – Arrive in Calgary You land in Calgary and are impatient to climb onto your luxury motorcoach up to Banff – your Canadian winter train trip is starting! Look out the window at the winter Canada is famous for as you travel up through the foothills of the mountains and right into the Canadian Rockies.

Day 2 – The Adventure Starts - Johnston Canyon Icewalk With strap on ice shoes and a walking pole provided by your friendly guide, you will hike on steel walkways built into the canyon walls that give an airy view of the Johnston canyon below. Travel through prime wildlife habitat on your way to the trailhead and learn the clues to how the canyon was formed. This popular walk will lead you past the lower falls and to the breathtaking upper icefalls.

Day 3 – Explore the Southern Canadian Rockies – Banff to Lake Louise You have the morning to explore Banff before you make your way by scheduled transfer to your next stop, Lake Louise. The sun glints off the ice as skaters glide across the surface, with the surrounding mountains providing a background worthy of any postcard. Included during your stay in Lake Louise is a sleigh ride along the lakeside trail.

Day 4 – Pushing Further North in the Canadian Rockies – Lake Louise to Jasper Welcome the morning by boarding a luxury motorcoach and relaxing in comfort as you head north along the Icefields Parkway. This is one of the most scenic highways in the world - a sea of snowcapped trees borders the route, you can feel the cool air through your window, and the air is invigorating. Overnight is Jasper.

Day 5 – The Canadian Outdoors – Dogsledding With thorough instruction from your knowledgeable guides, you’re ready to mush your own team of huskies in the Canadian Rockies! Feel the dogs’ strength as they strain against the harness; the wind whistles past your ears and carries the sound of your huskies happy panting. Rosy cheeked, with an inescapable smile on your face, you give the dogs a pat as you warm yourself around a campfire and enjoy a hearty lunch cooked over the open flame.

Day 6 – The Canadian Rockies by Train – Jasper to Vancouver on the Canadian A cozy and comfortable cabin awaits you on the Canadian train. A panoramic dome car - where you can relax, unwind, and see the sights all around you - is only a short walk from your cabin. Climb into your warm bed and get rocked off to sleep by the clickety-click of timeless tracks as you travel across Canada by train.

Day 7 – Winter in the City – Arrive in Vancouver Vancouver’s temperate climate is a welcome end to your Canadian Rockies train vacation. Vancouver’s coastal mountains stand before you, covered in pure white snow. Big city attractions right next to the beauty of nature – this is what Vancouver’s all about.

Day 8 – Much too Soon – Depart Vancouver After a week of snow, adventure, and new memories, you bid Canada farewell as your Canadian train trip comes to an end and you fly home from the Vancouver Airport.
