The Canadian Pacific Railway

The Canadian Pacific Railway was the first trans-Canadian railway - and for many people the name conjures up all the romance and adventure of early Canada. So it is no surprise that many people still think of it as the main passenger rail artery across the country - but it is not. These days the CPR, as it is called, is mostly a freight railway - the passenger operations having been taken over by Via Rail - the Canadian national railway system, much like America’s Amtrak.
Yet, for a few short weeks each year the historic name and the romance of a bygone era is revived - when The Royal Canadian Pacific train takes to the tracks once more.
This is truly a train journey for the very discerning - a super-deluxe experience where the lucky few can re-live the glories of yesteryear.
