Day 1 – Your Canadian railway vacation begins – Travel to the Niagara Region
Arrive in Toronto, Canada's largest city, and get whisked away to the quaint town of Niagara on the Lake. Brimming with history and flowers, Niagara on the Lake is the perfect spot to start your adventure. Admire the stunning lake views and experience the holiday atmosphere of the town.

Day 2 – Niagara Falls or Niagara wine tasting
Today the choice is yours - take a deluxe wine tasting tour in the region or visit the famous Niagara Falls. Whether you choose to indulge in the Niagara Peninsula wineries or take in the unforgettable sight of the Falls, the sights and scenery will not disappoint. Overnight in Niagara on the Lake.

Day 3 – Onward to Toronto
Transfer back to Toronto today and spend a day enjoying the quaint and colorful neighborhoods that Toronto is famous for at your leisure. Spend the evening at the top of the famous CN tower, and enjoy an unforgettable three course dinner combined with an outstanding revolving view of Toronto more than 350 metres (1,150 ft) below.  Don’t forget to plan some extra time before your meal to enjoy the glass floor outdoor terrace. Overnight in Toronto

Day 4 – Canadian train to Montreal
After a leisurely morning in Toronto, settle into your seat for a relaxing train journey from Toronto to Montreal. Travel along the shores of Lake Ontario and enjoy the open landscape of eastern Quebec. Travels through villages and farms, with grain towers gleaming in the sunlight, and red barns in various states of repair. Overnight in Montreal.

Day 5 – Montreal – the Hub of French Canada
The choice is yours today. You can take a city sightseeing tour to see the most important sights including St. Joseph’s Oratory, Jacques Cartier Square in Old Montreal, Mont Royal and Olympic Park. Or, you can opt for a semi-private walking tour of Old Montreal. With up to six participants per group, this exclusive 2-hour visit provides a more personalized experience for you to learn about the history of Old Montreal. Afterwards, venture through Montreal on your own and enjoy the lively ‘joie de vivre’ atmosphere. Overnight in a Montreal hotel.

Day 6 – Canadian Railway vacation ends
Much to soon, your vacation in Canada comes to an end. Depart from Montreal’s international airport.

Are you on the train the whole time?

All of our trips include some stops to get off the train, to explore Canada's beautiful national parks and unique cities. However, if you're keen to maximize your time onboard, we'll pair you up with the perfect experience.

Is this an escorted tour?

While our trips are not "escorted," we combine the best of both worlds – the reassurance of seamless connections, customer service support, and scheduled activities plus the freedom of 'independent' travel. How do the trains work in Canada compared to the US or UK?

Because most Canadians typically do not use the train for commuting (as in Europe and the US), the two main rail providers here are driven by tourism. You'll experience the romance of true trans-continental rail travel, with a wide selection of services, accommodation types, plus great food.

What types of trains are used?

Two main companies operate trains in Canada: VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer.

Rocky Mountaineer operates daylight touring trains, which travel along 3 of the most spectacular routes in Western Canada. You'll enjoy onboard commentary, award winning service, and incredible food.

VIA Rail is Canada's national train provider, with routes running Coast to Coast and through remote parts of Northern Canada. The type of train depends on your journey, and can vary from the classic trans-continental sleeper trains to daylight trains with overnight stops.

I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful vacation that the two of you put together for us. From the very beginning you, Meaghan, seemed to sense exactly the kind of vacation that we were seeking. You listened carefully to all... read more the things that we wanted to do and all the places we wanted to visit. You helped us navigate Travelocity and noted the rail travel we hoped for within Canada. You also understood that we wanted to learn as much as possible about the places that we visited within a rather limited amount of time and selected tours that would allow us to accomplish those goals. Then, somewhere in the process Jeremie stepped into the picture and managed to put it all into one seamless package. Arrangements were made for stays at absolutely beautiful hotels, transportation was set up to take us from city to city and door to door upon departure and arrival, tours showed up at our hotel doors exactly on time; and all of this happened without our having to make additional calls to confirmation or remind anyone. I was truly amazed. Of course, we got off to a bad start in the Chicago airport when the weather cancelled our flight for the day and deprived us of our first day of vacation. That set off a domino effect that made us miss our first night in Canada and would have made us miss our all-day tour of Quebec if Jeremie had not stepped in to reschedule our tour for the following day. Unfortunately other aspects of the trip also had to be rearranged as well, but Jeremie worked with us and things eventually came together again as they were supposed to. Interestingly, when we went to catch the train from Montreal to Toronto, when we checked in at the train station we were told that our original boarding passes were in order and no new paperwork needed to be issued. I panicked because I thought that they simply didn't understand the situation and called Jeremie for help thinking that he might be better able to explain the situation to them. Unfortunately, due to the time difference between Toronto and Vancouver, the office in Vancouver was not yet open. So I approached the gate where they were scanning our documents with fear and trembling, thinking that once again we would be left behind. However, we breezed right through and we were on our way. I don't know what happened exactly, but Jeremie must have had some magic up his sleeve. At any rate, the part or the journey that was set up for us by Fresh Tracks Canada was a dream come true. The hotels were beautiful, the limo services were wonderful (the poor fellow in Toronto waited for us for quite a while, since the train arrived late), and the tours were fascinating. The pre-travel information you sent us was very helpful and the detailed itinerary was marvelous. We could not have asked for more! Thank you, thank you, thank you! If we or any of our friends ever travel in Canada again, you can be certain that you will be the first ones we will turn to.
